Glossary

Collaborative Learning
- The idea that knowledge can be created when one or more people interact with each other and share information while completing a task .


e-books

- Interactive stories available on line or DVD's. They give the reader a multisensory approach and allow them to interact with the story.

Google Earth
- A virtual globe. It's images are composed of satellite images and aerial photos. Google Earth allows the user to fly over the world and zoom in on any location.


Google Images
- Allows the user to search the web for images by keyword.



ICT's

- Information and communication technologies. These are the tools you use to interact with and create digital information.


Paint
- A basic graphics program that comes with Windows which allows the user to 'paint' or 'draw' on the computer.



Skype
- Skype is a software appllication which allows users to make audio or video calls online.



SMART Board
- "Interactive whiteboard produced by SMART Technologies that can be used to access and control any computer application" (Shelly, Gunter, Gunter, 2010, p.570).



Storybird
- A free website which allows the user to create online stories using text and illustrations.



YouTube
- A website where users can upload and share video files.
